Thursday 16th November 2023 at 10.30am

On Thursday 16th November, Philip Warford has been invited by Mencap to deliver a webinar about decision making for a person with a learning disability.

As you may already know, the legal position regarding decision making changes once a person becomes an adult and it is important to understand how your disabled loved one may be affected by this. During this 1 hour Zoom webinar, Philip will talk through the key principles of the Mental Capacity Act 2005, who can make a Powers of Attorney and how the Court of Protection might help.

Philip will discuss:

  • What is mental capacity and who assesses mental capacity
  • What affects mental capacity
  • Different levels of capacity for different things
  • How the Mental Capacity Act 2005 affects us

  • What is a Power of Attorney
  • Lasting Powers of Attorney explained
